It isn’t often that I take a liking to a medium roast much less discuss it to any great degree. However this Bienville Blend served at Carpe Diem in Mobile, Alabama is quite refreshing, with low acidity and a bean whose good quality is easily ascertainable in the first sip. Perhaps it is the sun, the green of the low slung hills, or the breeze that signals Mobile Bay is close by. Along with this delectable blueberry scone, it is a good morning in Mobile. I hope my neighbors at Motel 6 didn’t mind me practicing scales at 8 am.

The Godfather sandwich from Zunzi’s in Savannah, Georgia. This sandwich has sliced roast chicken with South African-style sausage with grated Parmesan, lettuce, sun-dried tomatoes and special sauce. Needless to say, it was well worth the 45 min. wait.
